As a mother of 4 Children 7 years and under, I know the feeling of wanting to find the best most efficient products for deep cleaning my home. I’ve been the person before who goes and rents those larger carpet cleaners from the store when needed because I couldn’t justify buying one for my home. The only problem is, I don’t like using toxic cleaning products in my home and when using those rentals the chemical off-gassing that came from the machines from prior use was just too much. Luckily, though, I found a great alternative that doesn’t break the bank and is super compact. This blog post is a Bissell Little Green multi-purpose cleaner review.

ToggleThe amazing Bissell Little Green machine is a compact, lightweight portable carpet cleaning machine AND upholstery cleaner that is small enough to fit into small spaces like closets. It is travel-friendly as well in case you need to clean your car upholstery or your bestie needs to borrow it! You might have actually seen this viral cleaner all over Instagram or Tik Tok.
The Bissell Little Green machine is not only good for messy children but pets as well. It removes tough stains from carpets, couches, area rugs, car upholstery, and even curtains. It’s also great for spot cleaning small areas, cleaning set-in stains stubborn stains, and cleaning car seats! I personally have used it on my white couches and carpets. (yes I am that crazy woman who wanted white couches with 4 children) and I was not disappointed. It’s basically like a wet vacuum.
The Bissell Little Green machine is pretty straightforward as it comes basically ready out of the box. You will see that it has two clear tanks or water reservoirs on both sides. It has a clean water tank and a dirty water tank where the dirty water goes into. You will notice that it has a large tank capacity. Simply remove the clean tank water reservoir, fill it with hot tap water, and then place it back into the compartment. You will then attach the 3-inch tough stain tool to the end of the hose, plug it into the wall, turn the power button on, and go to work!
You will notice a little button on the bottom of the 3-inch tough stain tool that you will press down on it to utilize the spray function. It will spray the cleaning concentrate on the stain or area you are working on. Press the button, release, and then run over the area with the head of the stain tool and it will suck up the area. “Wet vacuuming” at its finest.
You will notice this little machine can clean an entire surface very quickly and efficiently! I am amazed how efficiently it can clean an old stain and a large area without much effort. You will also notice that even on areas you didn’t think had much dirt to clean how disgusting the area actually was! I am constantly amazed when I clean my couch covers how gross they are! Sometimes it had also been a long time since I had last cleaned. Bissell’s little green machine is great for tight spaces like car interiors as well.
You definitely could, but depending on the size of the space, it would probably take a long time. It definitely is not the most efficient way to clean a larger area of whole carpet
Yes, depending on the cleaning solution you use
I haven’t used vinegar yet, but I have read that you can! Simply put a cup of vinegar in the cleaning solution reservoir of the unit and then fill the remainder of the unit with hot water.
For best results, use hot water
Since the Bissell Little Green works like a wet vacuum, it will leave the area wet to dry. It will suck up the needed amount of water from the area being cleaned, but the area will be fairly damp post-cleaning and will need a few hours to dry completely.
I have to admit, I was very skeptical when I saw all of the rave reviews of this bissell little green carpet cleaner on Tik Tok and Instagram. I wasn’t skeptical that it could clean carpets, I was skeptical that it could be such an amazing spot cleaner to my precious white Ikea couches, because let’s face it; my kids do the couches dirty. Although I didn’t have a bunch of pet messes to clean up, I have a ton of kid messes to clean up! I was even more skeptical of the price tag. I got it during a prime sale for about 80 bucks! This has easily become one of my favorite cleaning tools though.
My first thought when I opened the box was that I loved the compact size as we don’t have a ton of storage space at my house. I also thought it was very aesthetically pleasing to look at, which may seem odd, but in my opinion, some of those big clunky carpet cleaners can be eyesores especially if you don’t have the space to store them.
So it passed the first test with sizing and looks. My next concern was that it would be too complicated to use or require too many odds-and-end tools to use it. I am not a fan of most appliances for that reason alone. I hate having to keep an inventory of odds and ends and figuring out what goes where and does what. To my great surprise, the bissell little green came with only three items you can choose to use. The only items I really use are the 3-inch tough stain-cleaning brush and the unit itself.
I was pleased with how easy it was to use. The reservoirs show how much water to fill to the fill line and how much cleaning concentrate to use in the tank if you are using the concentrate they send in although I recommend using a non-toxic alternative like Branch Basics solutions. When you are done filling up, simply put the canister back into place and turn “on”. You will see the dirty water fill up in the dirty reservoir tank. When done cleaning simply turn the unit off and empty out the dirty tank. The unit comes with a hydrorinse self-cleaning tool that attaches to the end of the hose and you can turn the unit on and it will clean out all the gunk like pet hair so it doesn’t get caught in the unit causing things to turn and smell funky. It is recommended to let this run for about 30 seconds.
I had a huge stain on my white chair from a child who spilled a smoothie and it went ALL over. I didn’t have high hopes that this would get all the way out. Well let me tell you, after about 5 minutes, the stain was removed COMPLETELY. I was shocked. I since then use it on my couches for all the stains, and every time you cannot even tell it was there.
The only thing I will say about white is that sometimes there is somewhat of a water stain from where the area was cleaned. This happens from spot treating. It’s almost best to just do the whole are if you are working with completely white.

Absolutely! I don’t believe you will have any regrets with this handy little machine, especially if you are a mama or a pet parent. If you have smaller rugs, stairs, car upholstery, car seats, or just have kids in general you need this machine. The Bissell Little Green Machine is an affordable, portable carpet cleaner for your home and the perfect solution for you!
Again, I recommend swapping out the cleaning products it recommends to use, but choose whatever works best for you and your family.
You will pay twice the price every time renting those professional carpet cleaners or paying someone else to get your car detailed.
Even if you don’t think you necessarily live a dirty or messy life, you will be surprised when you see how much dirt and gross stuff comes out of the machine after a standard cleaning.
I hope this Bissell Little Green multi-purpose cleaner Review helped you out! I would love to hear if you try it! If you need more recommendations on living and cleaning for a non-toxic life check out my post on 5 Easy Budget-friendly steps to get started with non-toxic living.
