about me

Thank you for visiting my page to learn about me and my journey towards living a more non-toxic lifestyle in this world where everything can seem so overwhelming! My goal is to help you to not feel overwhelmed but empowered to start making some easy switches in your everyday life that will better your life physically, mentally and financially.

I am a believer, a wife and a mother to three(almost 4) amazing children and I call my most important job the job of mother. I am also a registered nurse and did not start out knowing anything about the non-toxic way of living. I love prevention as medicine and I believe that is one of the biggest things we get wrong in our country. We can do so many things to help our bodies work properly and most diseases can be prevented and reversed with changes to our habits and ways of living. One of my biggest driving forces for this blog is to help families learn and be empowered as to what they are bringing into their homes with small children and how our everyday item choices we make impact not only ours, but our children’s health.

So much has changed in the non-toxic lifestyle world even since I began my journey back in 2015, which is great because that means more people are becoming aware of what they choose to put on and in their bodies and homes.

Back in 2015 I was 6 years into my nursing career working at a radiation oncology office when I started to have some questions. We had a sign at the front of the reception desk that read “Please do not wear any scented perfume or hand lotion as many of our patients are sensitive to fragrance.” I began to wonder why fragrance and perfumes were so bothersome to people? That began my journey into starting to look into ingredients in products we use everyday on our bodies and in our homes. I was shocked at what I was finding.

I then found the “Food Babe” she has a great book I think everyone should read, you can check it out here. She was one of the first people to openly take on the food industry letting people know how corrupt the industry is by feeding us food with fake ingredients covering it with amazing marketing. To this day she is still educating people about the everyday items they are buying and eating, exposing certain restaurants that have since made big changes to their ingredients. I really began looking at the ingredients in my foods and the ingredients of the products I was using on my body.

When I had my first baby in 2017, I really began to dig deep into the everyday items we use at home. I was shocked when I had found out that the lovely detergent marketed towards cleaning baby clothes was rated an “F” on the EWG website. I was also shocked to learn that most over the counter pharmaceuticals marketed towards parents for their babies had toxic ingredients in them. You can read more about the EWG here.

My transition to living a more non toxic way of life was definitely not overnight but I made slow changes over the years. I have to say that I truly cannot imagine living life using all of the chemicals I had been using in years past. I feel great, and my goal is to help you feel great as well. I have learned that the body is really an amazing tool and it knows how to heal itself when given the proper environment.

I hope you will stick around and read what I have to share, as I have a lot! You can expect all things non-toxic living swaps including beauty, personal care and everyday items.

Thanks for being here!
