It is hard to find clean, third-party tested supplements that benefit our health proactively and that taste good. Does Beekeeper’s Naturals live up to the hype?
With flu and cold season here there is no better time to do a review on one of my favorite supplements; Beekeeper’s Naturals. Consumers are inundated constantly with the best immune boosters, cold and flu busters, and ways to improve overall health.
As a holistic guided nurse, I am always looking for proactive ways to take care of my and my family’s health and immune system, especially during the fall and winter seasons when kids are constantly coming home with a sore throat or cough.
This is not intended for medical advice, always seek medical advice from your MD before starting any regimen.
Let’s begin with an overview before we get into the product reviews.

ToggleHoney isn’t the only product bees beautifully make; propolis is a compound made from the bee’s discharge/saliva and beeswax that creates almost a glue-type substance that they use to build the bee hives. In essence, bees use propolis to “keep the germs out.”
Propolis has many amazing health benefits and is a powerhouse dietary supplement. Propolis is loaded with polyphenols. Polyphenols are substances that contain antioxidants and fight free radicals which cause disease in the body. More specifically flavanoids are the main type of polyphenol found in propolis. Flavonoids are found in red wine, green tea, fruits and vegetables. Propolis also contains important vitamins, such as vitamins B1, B2, B6, C, and E and minerals such as magnesium, calcium, potassium sodium, copper, zinc, manganese and iron
There isn’t anything propolis isn’t good to use for. Here are a few main issues propolis is great for:
Immune support– a study from NCBI states that:
“Propolis potentiates the host defense system and biological immune response modifiers. A study has shown that in vitro and in vivo supplementation of propolis flavonoids liposome with ovalbumin enhances cellular immune and humoral responses in mice.”
I love the backstory of how Beekeeper’s Naturals was founded. It was founded by Carly Stein who suffered from chronic tonsillitis with no relief from anything until she tried propolis. Beekeeper’s Naturals was thus made and they have now produced products to help with all systems of the body. Anything From brain health to gut health, sinus support, immune support, and even a kids line.
sustainable beekeeping practices make sure their apiaries(or collection of beehives) are kept far away from any pesticide usage, and they never overharvest their hives or feed the bees anything but their products.
Third-party tested- all of their products are third-party tested for pesticides or any harmful chemicals honey bees could be exposed to.
Support pollination protection- they partner with one of the lead bee research institutions to raise awareness and donate 100% of their merchandise line to them.
Let’s get into some of my favorite products from Beeskeeper Naturals!
One of their first products, and probably their best-known and best-selling product. This product was my gateway product into the line. It is a daily immune-boosting spray (or use when you begin to feel a little tickle in your throat.) I swear whenever any of my family members and I think we feel anything coming on the spray is the first to come out!
They have a kid version as well which has a little bit less propolis than the adult version and added buckwheat honey to provide additional soothing elements for the kiddos.
I LOVE this spray! We use both the adult version and the kid version for my kids. It also tastes delicious! It is the best way to soothe a scratchy throat and support the immune system with over 300 beneficial polyphenol compounds, B vitamins, vitamin C, zinc, and iron
The only ingredients are:
The kid’s spray is recommended for kids 2+ and the adult spray for ages 12+
They warn that “with all supplements consult your healthcare professional before use. People allergic to bee products, bees, poplar tree products or balsam of Peru may experience allergic reactions.
Beekeeper’s Naturals has an amazing line of propolis-infused soothing lozenges infused with zinc, vitamin D, and some made with honey.
They are not your average cough drops as they are made to promote immune health all the while soothing your throat. Only 1 gram of added sugar which is amazing compared to most brands. They don’t include any natural flavors or synthetic dyes which is important to me. They are powered by nature only.
Elderberry lozenges– infused with 15mg of elderberry fruit extract which is an amazing immune system booster
Peppermint and Eucalyptus lozenges– infused with 12 mg of peppermint leaf extract and 7.5 mg of eucalyptus leaf extract which are amazing for any extra soothing the throat might need.
If you deal with seasonal allergies, or nasal issues in the spring, winter, fall, or any time of year, this nasal spray is great. It helps to clear nasal congestion by gently washing, soothing, and moisturizing nasal passages. It is nonhabit-forming and can be used any time of the day. My husband loves this spray as he deals with nasal congestion often and every time he uses it he says he “feels like a new man”
I am a huge fan of vitamin C, especially in liposomal form which means that the body is better able to absorb the supplement by remaining stable in the stomach and passing through the small intestine. This supplement has the added star ingredient benefit of propolis as well for added immune support. If you want more recommendations on great liposomal supplements check out my Mary Ruth Organics post! This tastes great too, but most vitamin C supplements do not taste very good.
This isn’t just any regular honey. This is a honey infused with propolis, royal jelly, and bee pollen. I think of royal jelly as basically the colostrum of milk in bees. It is produced by nurse bees(or worker bees) and fed to all larvae for a short period. Royal jelly is a highly nutrient-dense substance that is also fed to the queen bee. It contains antibacterial, anti-aging, and anti-inflammatory properties. Bee pollen is also a powerhouse immune support to take as a supplement as it has anti-inflammatory properties, works as a powerful antioxidant, supports liver health, and supports the immune system. It is great to use as daily overall nourishment, a boost of energy and vitamin and mineral support.
Cough syrup– They have amazing propolis cough syrup for both adults and children, nighttime and daytime! We have used the kid’s nighttime syrup and it worked so well, and I didn’t have to try and force my kids to take it.
Complete Gut Health– Regulates digestive balance with a triple threat of ingredients including Propolis a prebiotic; MegaDuo, a spore-based probiotic; and CoreBiome a postbiotic. Propolis acts as a prebiotic in Complete Gut Health to feed the good bacteria in the gut. A spore-based probiotic, Bacillus (MegaDuo) is uniquely capable of surviving the entire journey through the digestive system. Tributyrate (CoreBiome) helps regulate the normal inflammatory response in the gastrointestinal tract and combats the effects of bloat. I have not yet tried this product, but it is on my list!
Kids throat soothing lollipops!– I can’t wait to try these as well, they are the lozenges in lollipop form and doctor-formulated. With 2g of sugar per serving, they have 50% less sugar than the leading lollipop lozenge. I love that these lollipops boost immunity with vitamin D, elderberry, and zinc. 300 beneficial compounds, antioxidants, and vitamins that support the immune system from propolis as well..
Royal Jelly Brain fuel– If you are into adaptogens and biohacking, you will love the Royal Jelly Brain Fuel. It contains up to 500 mg of royal jelly which is supposed to help with cognitive function and mental clarity. Ginkgo Biloba found in tree resins can help increase blood flow to the brain, helping with memory and learning. It also contains Bacopa Monnieri which is an adaptogen that helps the brain and the ability to learn and retain information.
Common Questions:
In my and my family’s personal experience, yes! We love the throat spray, lozenges, and cough syrup as staples in our wellness routine and illness prevention box.
According to their website, they source their bee products from small-scale remote apiaries primarily across Canada and the US and some places such as the Brazillian rainforest.
Yes! I believe it works preventatively and when in need of if a sickness is coming on.
Yes, when we have coughs we take the cough syrup and feel good relief.
I hope this Beekeeper’s Naturals review was helpful! If you try any of these products let me know your thoughts!
