There are so many protein powders on the market today! I have heard so much about the brand Clean Simple Eats, let’s do a Clean Simple Eats Review!
Protein powder has come a long way from the days when you would need to make a special trip to the local GNC store to purchase what you need. Regular protein powder can be tricky though because it can have a lot of ingredients you really don’t want to be ingesting on a daily basis. There are several great brands out there that I know and like with their clean ingredients, but this brand has really caught my eye with it’s marketing(which we know at times can be a tad deceitful) With the name of “Clean Simple Eats” my mind immediately when to “ok this protein powder must be clean and healthy” so let’s do a Clean Simple Eats Review.

ToggleClean Simple Eats is a nutrition line started by a couple Erika and JJ who wanted to create delicious macro friendly and clean products for people to uplevel their fitness and nutrition goals. Their goal is to
“produce the highest quality products on the market, made with all-natural ingredients and without anything artificial. Our products are the best tasting on the planet, guaranteed-packed full of vitamins and nutrients to help nourish and fuel your body.
Sounds amazing! You also might have seen his brand all over social media. Clean Simple Eats has been all over TikTok- make your day by showing tons of loyal fans and followers of this product. This brand has protein powders, nut butter, hydration drinks, energy drinks, and many other supplements. Today, I am focusing on their top seller, their protein powder. They are known for their protein powders for their “fun” flavors anything from chocolate to German chocolate cake, they have a lot of flavors!
On first impression, I am impressed with this product. The packaging label is eye-catching, and I received it fast through Amazon. I purchased the flavors “Chocolate Brownie Batter” and “German Chocolate Cake” I wanted to try these flavors to mix in with my overnight oats. German chocolate cake is one of their seasonal flavors, so they don’t always have that particular flavor, but chocolate brownie is a flagship flavor.
I wanted to see first though, how well these protein powders mixed in just water, because I know that a lot of protein powders can get clumpy and that is just something this girl doesn’t want. Both flavors mixed super well with my shaker bottle and let me tell you, both had incredible taste. Tasted like I was eating dessert, literally. I also hear rave reviews on their vanilla protein powder.
One thing I was a little concerned about is their use of “natural flavors”. If you have been around here any amount of time, you know that synthetic fragrances and natural flavorings are usually a no-go for me; unless I know the source of them. Here is what Clean Simple Eats states about their “natural flavors”
“Our natural flavors are just plant extracts, for flavor. That term can get a bad rap (sometimes rightly so), but our natural flavors are truly just an extract or juice from a plant (vanilla, cacao, banana, strawberry, peanut, lime, and many others), sprayed on a non-GMO potato substrate, then dried so we can use them in our powdered mixes. We are ultra passionate about the quality of our ingredients and we will never use anything synthetic or inferior in our products!”
Clean Simple Eats prides itself on these qualities:
No artificial Ingredients
Non-GMO
3rd Party Tested
Manufactured In the USA
Gluten Free
Erythritol Free
100% Grass-fed whey protein isolate
Cold Processed from start to finish to keep all protein and amino acids intact
Added benefit of digestive enzymes to aid in absorption and digestion.
These protein powders do contain whey and non-fat dry milk, so if you are sensitive to dairy or whey, this wouldn’t be the protein powder for you. They also contain stevia leaf and monkfruit. There are a lot of people out there who are wary of monk fruit and stevia leaf
While I think protein powders are a great way to close the barrier of getting enough protein in a single day, I think they can be overutilized to hit our daily protein intake. I know I definitely have been guilty of using protein powder all day instead of actually eating my nourishing whole food sources of protein I should be eating. If we aren’t aware of what is in our protein powders and we are utilizing them in day-to-day activity we could be potentially putting our health at risk. A study done by Harvard University found this:
Researchers screened 134 products for 130 types of toxins and found that many protein powders contained heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury), bisphenol-A (BPA, which is used to make plastic), pesticides, or other contaminants with links to cancer and other health conditions. Some toxins were present in significant quantities. For example, one protein powder contained 25 times the allowed limit of BPA.
As a consumer, you need to be cautious about the protein powders you choose to consume, especially if you are using them on a daily basis. What most consumers don’t know, is that protein powders, just like supplements aren’t regulated by the Federal Drug Administration. This means, that anyone can make a protein powder, sell it, and market it as “clean.” Most consumers also don’t know, that along with pesticides and herbicides being used heavy metals can also be very high in protein powders.
So what do you do? Fortunately, a lot of nutritional products now are doing third-party testing for contaminants such as pesticides, heavy metals, microbes, and pathogens. Along with finding a product that is third-party tested, finding a company that uses good ingredients is also important.
In my honest opinion, I would put them above most protein powders marketed, I think that they do care about their ingredient standards. However, I do believe there are cleaner products out there that use certified organic ingredients whenever possible. There are also brands who don’t use any form of “natural flavors.” My concern with protein powders like this that have so many flavor options available, is that we are training our brains and taste buds to think that good protein has to be “sweet” and “good tasting.”
I think if you utilize this product as not being part of your daily routine it can be a delicious way to amp up a healthier sweet treat. I do believe though that CSE protein powder can be a great option to help hit your protein goals and try some new recipes for some fun weight loss recipe treats. It is definitely a clean protein powder to use.
As mentioned before, protein powders are not regulated by the FDA. However, Clean Simple Eats claims that their products are third-party tested.
So many recipes! You can add a scoop to your favorite oatmeal recipe, add a scoop to waffles or pancakes, chia seed pudding, or replace it as any sweetener to add to a sweet treat or baked good like banana bread! Well Or you can simply make a protein shake with it. With 20 grams of protein per scoop you can really reach your protein intake easily for a healthy lifestyle.
A 30- serving bag is $59.60 at the time of this blog post, breaking It down to about $1.98 per serving. Amazon runs varies sales though, so you can get it for even cheaper potentially!
